The aim of the Group is to help members develop their ideas about what makes an interesting photograph and how to use their cameras to capture it, as well as how to post-process images in Photoshop or other photographic software as may be necessary to give them most impact.
We learn how to use the different features and settings on our cameras by going on photoshoots at various locations in our area and further afield. We also hold occasional indoor training sessions during the winter when the weather is less suitable for taking pictures outdoors.
Photoshoots are normally held on the second Thursday of the month either in the afternoon or all day if further afield. They may also be organized for an evening later in the month, light and weather permitting.
Our photoshoots cover all types of photography, including urban locations, landscapes and nature.
We end our photoshoots in a local café or pub, as shown in the pictures on this page where the Group can be seen relaxing after taking photographs in Christchurch in Dorset, and closer to home in Buriton and Chalton.
Each month members also take photographs that fit a subject or theme drawn from a hat, which members can follow as precisely or tenuously as they wish, to post on the Group's Facebook page.
Clive produces a regular newsletter with details of and pictures from our photoshoots, as well as the plan for next month, including the theme for pictures to be posted on Facebook.

We share our ideas about how to take well-composed images for posting on the Group's Facebook page where we provide constructive comments on the photographs we have all taken.
Members familiar with post-processing software can give advice about and assistance with using it if anyone wants to edit their photographs before posting them.
Popular post-processing software used by the Group’s members (and good value for money) include Adobe Photoshop Elements and Affinity Photo.
In the winter months we may meet in Lovedean Village Hall or Napier Hall to review our activities over the past year and discuss any other matters of interest. We normally pay £2 to cover the cost of the Hall and refreshments for these indoor meetings .
